Branding for a Stealth Startup's Web3 New Media Project

DeSci is both one of the most promising and one of the smallest niches within the Web3 space. There's plenty of room for creation and innovation, but the main challenge so far is around demand generation and engagement.

The people who'd benefit the most from DeSci aren't the ones most willing to engage. A beautiful brand providing accessible & relevant content to connect scientists and blockchain enthusiasts may be exactly what DeSci needs to advance its goals.

What Is DeSci?

DeSci (Decentralized Science) is a niche within the Web3 space that combines science and blockchain technology. It aims to create a decentralized platform where scientists can share their research and collaborate with others in a secure manner. By leveraging blockchain technology, DeSci provides a transparent and immutable record of scientific information, which can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection. This has the potential to revolutionize the way scientific research is conducted, making it more accessible, inclusive and transparent.

Project Context

In mid-2022, we joined forces with a Stealth Startup based in Brazil, to launch DeSciReport. DeSciReport is a niche outlet dedicated to advancing the conversation around science and the power of blockchain technology. Our work involved everything from content curation & strategy to visual identity design.

Challenges

During this project we aimed to:

• Move beyond the branding clichés of the Web3 space
• Create a neutral and iterable identity, without the exhaustive back-and-forth and guidance that characterizes branding projects
• Building a community while we built the visual brand
• Creating a brand that'd serve as a foundation for eventual, future developments
• Conducting low-scale experiments that tested the brand's positioning and potential as an eventual media asset for the client
  

Results

DeSciReport successfuly connected to some of the most exciting voices in LATAM crypto, including Key Opinion Leaders and founders. The brand also co-hosted and participated in relevant industry events in the Argentinian OpenScience community and the LATAM Crypto community.
